NBA Draft Player Profile - Jason Smith

Jason Smith

By Dennis Velasco, About.com

Born: March 4, 1986
High School: Platte Valley
Hometown: Greeley, CO
College: Colorado State University
Position: Center
Height: 7'0"
Weight: 233 lbs.
Class: Junior

Positives:

Smith is fundamentally sound and has a good feel for the game. He's mobile and athletic with good footwork in the post. Smith has pretty good court vision, recognizes double-teams, and knows how to find the open man. He has the ability to shoot from the perimeter and make the shots.

Negatives:

Smith needs to work on his back-to-the-basket moves and be a bit more physical down low. He lacks the ideal aggressiveness to be a force in the post. Adding some upper body strength could help.

Overview:

The Colorado State product has ideal size for a big man and is a fairly fluid player, meaning that he doesn't look robotic on the court. There is some really good upside with Smith.
