High School: Montrose Christian
Hometown: Suitland, MD
College: University of Texas
Position: Small Forward/Power Forward
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 225 lbs.
Class: Freshman
Positives:
Durant has excellent range on his jumper, which he can make from anywhere on the court. He's also able to run the floor and finish in transition. Durant ALSO has a very good low post game utilizing his speed and footwork... yeah, Durant is an offensive force. Regarding his defense, some are down on it, but I don't think a player averages two steals and two blocks by luck. Thanks to his length, mobility, and athleticism, Durant has the ability to not only shut down opposing offensive players, but his critics.
Negatives:Durant is a bit on the thin side and could find some trouble being effective down low as he was in college. He'll need to build his strength and add some weight in order to really be able to duplicate the type of production he had in college.
Overview:Durant is compared favorably to Dirk Nowitzki and, in fact, when considering Nowitzki's game at this same point as Durant, Durant is head and shoulders above the current NBA MVP. Durant will need to get stronger and gain more weight, but the sky is pretty much the limit for the 18 year old.
