Class: Freshman
Positives:
Even only as a freshman coming out, Hawes is probably the best offensive post player in the draft. His moves down low are very developed and he possesses a soft touch around the basket. Hawes has very good ball handling skills and court vision as he is a great passer. He also can go outside and hit the outside shot with regularity. Hawes is very athletic and can run up and down the court easily. He is very coachable and has a great attitude.
Negatives:Hawes will need to add some more muscle to bang down low with the pros of the NBA. For a player his size, there is still a lot of growing to do as a rebounder. Hawes sometimes settles with perimeter shots when he should attack the basket.
Overview:While Hawes some big upside, it could take some time before that upside shows itself as Hawes will probably need a season or two to add some more muscle and learn the game and its nuances. However, the wait could well be worth it.
