DENNIS' PREDICTIONS

Most Valuable Player:

I have to go with Kobe Bryant. He's scored more points per game in his career and, in fact, has had better statistical seasons. However, this season he became a true team player and leader as he learned to trust his teammates more. And in return, they repaid him in kind by converting, dishing, defending, and essentially raising their games. And to think it seemed like Kobe would be gone from Los Angeles last summer.

Rookie of the Year:

I do like Kevin Durant and think he's going to have a pretty good career in the NBA, however, I have to go with Al Horford of the Atlanta Hawks. For reasons mentioned before - averaging a near double-double and playing for a playoff team (however much as it was it the East) - I have to bring the award down to the ATL.

Sixth Man of the Year:

No question it's Manu Ginobili. Why? Do not question, only accept. It will set you free.

Most Improved Player:

As a big-time participant in fantasy basketball, I've kicked myself numerous times during this past season for not picking up Hedo Turkoglu of the Orlando Magic. Man, did he ever step up his game and contributing to a surprising Orlando Magic team that improved their record by a dozen games and getting into the playoffs.

Defensive Player of the Year:

It's tough. Before the season started I said Josh Smith. However, I have to reconsider that because a player like Shawn Marion doesn't even make the NBA All-Defensive team! So, I'll go with Marcus Camby defending his award.

Coach of the Year:

Can there really be anyone but Byron Scott?
