NBA All-Star Three-Point Shootout Contest History

By Dennis Velasco, About.com

Sure, dunks are exciting things to see and at times they can even get you up out of your seat, but nothing beats the grace of jumpshot. Especially from beyond the three-point line.

Compared to treys, dunks are easy to do. It is more rare to see a proficient long-range threat than a rim-rocker in today's athletic NBA. That's why when you see the table below, there is more consistency of winners compared to the winners of the Slam Dunk Contest.

Check out who did it best during the NBA's All-Star weekend and look at the past winners of the Three-Point Shootout Contest that has seen some of the greatest offensive perimeter players of all-time, such as the past's Larry Bird and today's Dirk Nowitzki. See which other shooters have won the hardware for best long-range bomber in the table below.

NOTE:

  • The Three-Point Shootout was not held in 1999 due to the NBA Lockout that season.
