Founded: 1946 as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks of the National Basketball League; merged with the NBA in 1949; switched cities in 1951 to become the Milwaukee Hawks; switched cities once again (1955) to St. Louis, keeping the team name; finally in 1968, they moved to their present home of Atlanta.
